At an early age I showed an aptitude and interest in landscaping maintenance and design. Before college, the bulk of my part-time and summer jobs were in suburban and golf course landscaping and maintenance. I decided to attend Texas State Technical College in Waco because of their excellent reputation in the golf course industry. I graduated in 1994 with a degree in Turfgrass and Golf Course Management.
I was immediately hired as the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent at Houston Country Club - one of the premier courses in Texas. After two years of learning the practical aspects of running and maintaining a golf course (for some of the toughest clientele), I accepted the position of Head Superintendent at McAllen Country Club in the Rio Grande Valley.
In my eight years with McAllen Country Club I oversaw a wide variety of projects ranging from the routine maintenance and landscaping to installing greens, fairways and irrigation systems.
After deciding to move to San Antonio, I worked for Austin Turf and Tractor (a distributor for John Deere Golf and Turf). I worked with a large number of golf courses and municipal accounts to ensure that they had the proper equipment to install and maintain their landscaping.
Four years later, I saw the growing opportunity in turf grass sales, and I began working with Bladerunner and Flying G Turf Farms. This position gave me invaluable knowledge of the turf grass industry and returned me to my roots - so to speak.
In February of 2004, I decided to make a go of it on my own and opened Specialty Turf Services, Ltd., Co. My goal now is to help my customers find the perfect grass to fit their unique needs. My staff and I are dedicated to giving you the best solution to your turf grass requirements.
So, as you can see... Specialty Turf Services, Ltd.,Co. not only sells grass - we know grass!
